Afghanistan Medal 1878-1880 : Sergeant W Elliott, 9th Lancers
Description
Afghanistan Medal with clasps 'CHARASIA', 'KABUL' and 'KHANDAHAR'. Engraved around edge with recipient's details. The obverse of the medal depicts a crowned and draped head of Queen Victoria with the legend 'VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX'. The reverse depicts a scene of marching troops led by an mounted officer and an elephant carrying a gun. Around the top is the word 'AFGHANISTAN' and around the lower edge are the dates '1878-79-80'.
