Description
Studio portrait of 2018 Private (Pte) Leonard Augustine O'Loughlin, 3rd Reinforcements, 28th Battalion, of Mount Lawley, WA. Pte O'Loughlin enlisted on the 18 May 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Anchises in Fremantle on 2 September 1915. He was killed in action at Pozieres, in the Somme area of France, on 29 July 1916. He is commemorated at the Villers Bretonneux Memorial. His brother, 1103 Pte Dennis Francis O'Loughlin, 7th (Light) Trench Mortar Battery, died of wounds in hospital at Rouen, France, on 26 November 1916.
