Description
Studio portrait of 4596 Private (Pte) Leslie Oscar Rollins wearing glasses, 14th Reinforcements, 12th Battalion, of Hobart, Tas. Pte Rollins enlisted on 20 September 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Warilda on 8 February 1916. On 2 April 1917 he was killed in action at Noreuil in the Bapaume area of France, aged twenty. Leslie's grandfather (his next of kin) states on his Roll of Honour circular that "He was a smart, earnest, christian young man. Rejected four times, he put himself into training, made himself fit and passed on the fifth examination."
