Back them up!: The Mediterranean Invasion. British troops, tanks and guns pouring ashore from landing craft
Description
This 1942 British Second World War poster was created by His Majesty's Stationary Office on behalf of the Ministry of Information. The poster depicts Allied soldiers, tanks, amphibious landing craft, and larger ships arriving on an invasion from the Mediterranean. This appears to be the landings in north Africa, which were a part of Operation Torch, which spanned from 8-16 November 1942.
The poster was produced to show the general public the sort of work that was done by Allied navies, with the phrase 'back them up' referring to continuing the fight and efforts on the home front.
This was one of a series of posters all with the same title. This item has been digitised with funding provided by Commonwealth Government.
