Description
Studio portrait of 2327 Private (Pte) Hendrick Cornelius Brinckmann, 7th Reinforcements, 7th Battalion, of Melbourne, Vic, (originally of Amsterdam, Holland, with previous military experience with the Dutch Navy). Pte Brinckmann enlisted on 9 April 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Demosthenes on 16 July 1915. He was killed in action on 19 July 1916 at the Somme, France, as a member of the 59th Battalion.
