Description

The original grave marker, covered in flowers of 258 Trooper (Tpr) Alfred James Angrave, 3rd Australian Light Horse, of Hindmarsh, SA. Tpr Angrave enlisted on 19 August 1914 and embarked from Adelaide aboard HMAT Port Lincoln on 22 October 1914. He died of wounds from a bomb explosion in action at Romani on 1 June 1916 and died in Egypt on 3 June 1916 aged 32 years. Tpr Angrave also served in the Boer War for a period of 18 months, firstly as 378 Private with the Australian Army Medical Corps contingent of South Australia and secondly as 1325 Private with the Army Medical Corps of NSW. He purchased his discharge and became a trolley driver until he enlisted for service in the First World War.
