Description

American soldier's circular aluminium identity disc. The name 'JESSE.V.BEECH.' is stamped around the circumference of the disc, with the words 'PVT.1ST.CL. CO.A. 108 FLD.SIG.BN.' stamped horizontally across the centre. There is a 4 mm hole at the bottom of the disc for a suspension cord. The reverse is unmarked.

History / Summary

This identity disc was collected as a souvenir by Corporal Gordon Binns, AIF. The information stamped on it indicates that Jesse V Beech was a Private 1st Class in Company 'A' of 108 Field Signal Battalion, which formed part of 33 US Division, serving with the American Expeditionary Force on the Western Front in 1918.
