Studio portrait of 1855 Sergeant (Sgt) William Doyle Hobson, 49th Battalion, AIF, of Cairns, Qld. Sgt Hobson enlisted on 8 January 1915 and embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Star of England on 8 April 1915. He was killed on 16 August 1916, at Pozieres, France.
