Description

A Cambodian Red Cross worker surveys the arriving 'Sisophon Express', full of returning refugees as it finishes its journey just outside Phnom Penh, having travelled from Sisophon with 331 refugee families from the Thai border camps on a journey that, took 13 hours. Once disembarked, refugees were transported to the UN reception centre at Phnom Penh. The Repatriation Component of UNTAC was responsible for the repatriation and resettling of 370,000 Cambodian refugees located in Thai border camps from April 1992 until March 1993, with only one fatality recorded.
