Description

Studio portrait of 3291 Sergeant (Sgt) Jack Henry Worrad, 51st Battery, 13th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB), of Scone, NSW. He had previously served with a NSW unit of the Australian Light Horse. Sgt Worrad enlisted on 30 August 1915 and died of pneumonia at No. 38 Casualty Clearing Station, Raven, France on 29 March 1917. This portrait is one of a number displayed on a photo montage Honour Board made for the department store Anthony Hordern and Sons Ltd, Sydney by the returned soldier and sailor employees of the company. It commemorated 46 of the company's 48 employees who died as a result of their service in the First World War. Sgt Worrad was employed as a draper by the company.
