McArthur-Campbell, Alison (Captain)
Description
Letters and postcards from VX17193 Captain Alison McArthur-Campbell, Chief Physiotherapist with the Australian Army Medical Women's Service, to her mother, 1941-1942, from Middle East, describing physiotherapy work and general impressions in Middle East and North Africa with 2/1, 2/4, 2/6 and 108 Australian General Hospitals. They cover the weather, Arab farmers, distinguished guests/hosts e.g General Auchinleck, work-related news and social life. The diary covers late 1940 to early 1943, with a similar scope of topics as the letters and postcards. A notebook of poems in the collection was written mainly while on overseas service.
