Description
Collection relating to service of Lieutenant Reginald Scott Gardiner, 55 Battalion, Gallipoli, 1914-1915. Collection consists of typewritten extracts of Gardiner's letters to his mother, describing his experiences on board ship, at Lemnos, and on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
History / Summary
Biographical note: Reginald Scott Gardiner was born in Casterton Victoria in 1893. He was a school teacher before enlisting in AMC, AIF, 25 August 1914 as clerk to the ADHS 1st Australian Division. Served in Gallipoli from the landing to the evacuation and was afterwards employed in the office of the DMS, AIF, in Cairo and London. He was recommended for Mention is Despatches, 27 November 1916.
