Description
Collection relating to the service of 14 Private Henry Ellis, Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force (AN&MEF), later 1365 Lieutenant Henry Ellis, 17 Battalion, New Guinea, 1914. Collection includes a souvenir copy of the Government Gazette of the British Administration German New Guinea for 15 October 1914.
History / Summary
Biographical note: Lieutenant, 17th Bn, AIF. Died on 16/17 April 1917 of wounds received in the Bullecourt sector. Clerk of Mosman, NSW; born Caledon, County Tyrone, Ireland; for five years in the Royal Irish Constabulary; came to Australia 1913. Served with AN&MEF (Regimental Number 14 Private) until discharge 4 March 1915; joined AIF 18 April 1915 (Regimental Number 1365 Private); age at time of death 30 years.
