Earp, George Howard (Lieutenant, b.1891 - d.1950)
Collection relating to service of Lieutenant George Howard Earp, 5 Battalion. Collection includes a copy of a statement provided by Earp to the Red Cross Wounded and Missing Information Bureau, Alexandria, regarding the deaths in action of 580 Private Harry Hodgman and 610 Private Reginald Clive Brownell on 25 April 1915 at Anzac. Also included is a copy of a covering letter to Private Hodgman's father by Vera Deakin. The original Hodgman letters are held as 1DRL/0238.
Biographical note: Lieutenant, 5 Bn later 1st Pnr Bn. Landed at Gallipoli 25 April 1915. Prior to enlistment Earp was an architectural draftsman. Regimental number was 594. Earp enlisted with the Melbourne Public School's Company of 5 Battalion; was engaged in the landing at Gallipoli, and received his commission for his work in drawing maps for 1 Pioneer Battalion.
