Honeysett, Nell (b.1922 - d.2015)
Collection relating to the British Commonwealth Occupation Force and Korean War experiences of civilian Nell Honeysett, 1953-1954.
Wallet 1 of 1 - collection consists of a 13-page handwritten account entitled "An Australian Army Wife's Account of Life for Her during the United Nations War in Korea, 1950-1953". The account, written in 1989, recalls Honeysett's time in Kure, Japan while her husband, Lieutenant Colonel (later Brigadier) Joseph David Honeysett, was posted to the British Commonwealth Occupation Force and later with the Australian forces in Korea. She discusses the difficulties of being married to a career soldier, the frequent separation, the sea journey to Kure, the culture shock of living in a different country, the language barrier, and the difficulties her husband encountered while commanding a signals regiment in Japan.
