Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Colonel Cyril Herman Spurge, 1 Division Artillery, Egypt, Gallipoli, France, Belgium, 1914-1919. Collection consists of a copy of an original diary and later transcript, detailing events from embarkation in Melbourne with the 5th Battery, training in Egypt, service on Gallipoli and later evacuation to Mudros. Also included is a photograph album containing numerous snapshots, chiefly of Spurge's fellow officers, some Gallipoli scenes, street scenes of Cairo, ships, and nurses.
