Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of QX1472 Private Charles Douglas Baker, 2/32nd Battalion. Collection includes an Emergency Certificate with portrait photograph issued to Private Baker designating his military refugee status in Switzerland following his escape over the border into Switzerland from Germany with four other Australians in 1943. Also includes two envelopes posted in Switzerland; a sheet with diagonal water colour marks reproducing the appearance of the chemicals used to identify invisible ink; and typed notes written later, detailing Pte Baker's experiences during the war as a prisoner of war (POW).
