Description
1. Letter written to his mother by Gunner Downes, describing the action at the battles of Villers-Bretonneux and Peronne, and the Armistice, dated 22 November 1918. Incomplete. Letter runs to twenty five pages, of which page 25 is damaged. 2. Five French postcards, possibly found by Downes, some written on the reverse in French.
