Williams, Albert John (Gunner, b.1895 - d.1963)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 2148 Gunner Albert John Williams, 14th Field Artillery Brigade. Collection consists of a bound, typed manuscript titled 'A Soldier Looks Back, by Bombardier'. Written by Gunner Albert Williams around 1935, the memoir is based on his personal experiences from the time of his enlistment, service on Gallipoli and in France and Belgium (mentions battles at Fromelles, Ypres, Hamel and Peronne), through to his return to Australia in 1918. A carbon copy of this manuscript is held at MSS1337.
