Collection relating to the service of 761 Private Albert Edward Meggy, 3 Battalion, AIF, at sea, Egypt, Gallipoli, 1914-1915. Collection consists of twenty-one letters written by Private Meggy to family members (i.e. his mother and his sister 'Dolly').

History / Summary

Biographical note: 761 Private Albert Edward Meggy, 3 Battalion AIF. Farmer, of Neutral Bay and Leeton, NSW. Born in Paddington, NSW, 1894; educated at Neutral Bay Public School; joined the AIF on 24 August 1914; killed in action at Lone Pine between 6 and 12 August 1915, aged 21. Son of Percy Robert and Sarah Myrtle Meggy, of Glen Echo, Rangers Avenue, Cremorne, New South Wales.
