Description
Reasons for enlisting; training camp; Cairo; reputation of Australian soldiers; Gallipoli; wounded and evacuated to England; self-inflicted wounds; relationship between officers and men; discipline; absent without leave; prison for three weeks on Isle of Wight; sent to France as reinforcement to Machine Gunners; Pozieres; contact with family; conscription; Armistice; returning home; life after the war; commemoration; joining the Peace Movement in 1979. Note that Mr Morton was interviewed twice; the transcript for the second interview is attached to transcript for the first.
