Description
A mounted patrol led by Lieutenant Spain (left), setting out for a foray in the countryside in search for bandits. They are part of the NSW Naval Brigade which went to help the British suppress the Boxer Rebellion in China in the period 1900 - 1901. Note the comparatively small size of the ponies.
