Studio portrait of 534 Private George Wippell, 21st Battalion from Elwood, Victoria. A 30 year old clerk prior to enlistment on 26 January 1915, he embarked for overseas with B Company from Melbourne on 10 May 1915 aboard HMAT Ulysses. He was killed in action on 21 November 1916 near Flers, France and is buried in the AIF Burial Ground, Grass Lane, Flers.
