Studio portrait of 6341 Private (Pte) Peter James Rialland, 5th Battalion from North Melbourne, Victoria. A 23 year old mattress maker prior to enlisting on 20 Feburary 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 20th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 11 September 1916 aboard HMAT Euripides. Pte Rialland was killed in action near Dernacourt, France on 3 March 1917 and is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France with others who have no known grave.
