Studio portrait of 2692 Private (Pte) Edwin William Harman, D Company, 58th Battalion from Prahran, Victoria. [He is listed on the Embarkation Roll as Edward William Harman.] A 25 year old labourer prior to enlisting on 17 July 1915, he embarked for overseas service with the 6th Reinforcements from Melbourne aboard RMS Moldavia on 5 October 1915. After arriving in Egypt, he joined the 58th Battalion and went with them to France in March 1916. Pte Harman was killed in action at Mouquet Farm on 26 August 1916 and is buried in the Serre Road Cemetery No 1, Beaumont Hamel, Picardie, France.
