Studio portrait of 3738 Private (Pte) William Joseph Doolan, 9th Battalion, of Bangalow, NSW. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Doolan embarked with the 12th Reinforcements from Brisbane on HMAT Itonus on 30th December 1915. After transferring to the 49th Battalion he was killed in action on 13th August 1916 and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
