Studio portrait of 4904 Private (Pte) Richard David Davies, 1st Battalion, of Redfern, NSW. A boilermaker's assistant prior to enlistment, Pte Davies embarked from Sydney with the 15th Reinforcements on HMAT Star of England on 8th March 1916. After transferring to the 53rd Battalion he was killed in action in France and is commemorated on the VC Corner Australian Cemetery Memorial, Fromelles.
