Studio portrait of 2642 Private (Pte) David Benjamin Davies, 12th Battalion, of Newtown, NSW. A wine and spirit merchant prior to enlistment, Pte Davies embarked from Adelaide with the 8th Reinforcements on RMS Morea on 26th August 1915. After transferring to the 52nd Battalion he was killed in action on 26th January 1917 at Delville Wood, aged 20, and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
