Studio portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) William Henry Dawkins, 2nd Field Company Engineers, of Ferntree Gully, Vic. A military student prior to enlistment, Lt Dawkins embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Orvieto on 21st October 1914. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 20th May 1915 and was buried in the Beach Cemetery at Anzac Cove.
