Studio portrait of 2118 Private (Pte) Walter Reginald Burrows, 5th Battalion. A surveyor from Stawell, Victoria, prior to enlistment on 16 April 1915, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic on 25 June 1915 for Gallipoli where he joined his battalion on 5 August 1915. Pte Burrows was wounded in action at Gallipoli on 14 August 1915 and died of these wounds eight days later aboard HS Andania while en route to Malta. He was aged 18 years.
