Description
This photograph depicts one of the many difficulties with which our troops were confronted on Gallipoli. Before bringing in troops for the big battle of August, it was necessary to provide stores of water. The great platform levelled for tanks above Anzac Cove, near the summit of Plugge's Plateau, may be seen here, and Maori troops are dragging this tank up the hill. The photograph was taken in Anzac Gully, at the foot of which was Army Corps Headquarters.
