McConnan, Walter Alexander (Lieutenant, b.1886 - d.1964)
Description
Papers of Lieutenant (Lt) Walter Alexander McConnan who served with 8 Light Horse at Gallipoli. The collection is mainly comprised of an extensive series of letters written by Lt McConnan covering the years 1914 - 1919. Other items in the collection include two black and white photographs; an unpublished manuscript titled 'My father' and a copy of an article from the 'Victorian Historical Journal', written by Nancy McConnan. Use was made of a number of these letters by author and historian Peter Burness in his book 'The Nek', published by Kangaroo Press in 1996.
