Parkes, Stanley Thomas (Lieutenant, b.1894 - d.1986)
Description
Papers of Lieutenant Stanley Thomas Parkes who served with the 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance during the First World War. Parkes kept four diaries documenting the period 1915-1918 during operations at Gallipoli and Egypt, including detailed entries on the First Battle of Gaza in March 1917 and the Second Battle of Gaza in April 1917. Other items in the collection include service documents, paybooks, annotated postcards and a certificate citing Parke's Mention in Despatches for gallant services in the field, 1915-1919.
