Description
A good afternoon's catch of fish from the Perak river, proudly displayed by 2/1371 Sergeant (Sgt) Harry Buckley, of Liverpool, NSW, 1st Troop, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE). Sgt Buckley is having a break, during the construction of a 500 yard by 50 yard airfield at Fort Tapong in Northern Malaya. Members of the RAE are helping to carve the field out of virgin jungle, using only hand tools and explosives. Fort Tapong is a Malayan police outpost near the Thai border and is used by Australian and other Commonwealth troops as a stepping off camp for jungle operations and border patrols.
