Informal outdoors portrait of 3779 Private Walter (Wally) Joseph Michael Keating of the 26th Battalion of Essendon, Vic cutting the hair of an unidentified soldier at their camp. A hairdresser prior to his enlistment on 7 April 1915 Keating embarked from Brisbane with the 7th Field Ambulance on board HMAT Ascanius on 23 May 1915. Keating was killed in action on 5 August 1916 and is memorialised at panel 108 26 Villers Bretenneux, France.
