Signed studio portrait of Second Lieutenant Francis Joseph Burtenshaw MC, 41st Battalion of Brisbane, Qld. A farmer prior to his enlistment on 15 November 1915 he embarked from Sydney on 18 May 1916 on board HMAT Demosthenes. Burtenshaw was killed in action on 15 May 1918 age 25 and is buried at 116 Querrieu British Cemetery, France. The son of William Alfred and Julia Helen Burtenshaw of Woodville Street, Hendra Qld.
