Hong Kong. c 1948. An informal group portrait of witnesses and stenographers from the trial of seventeen Japanese accused of war crimes committed in the Prisoner of War (POW) camp on Hainan Island between November 1942 and August 1945. Identified are, back row, left to right: NX47190 Corporal Athol (Tom) Pledger and Captain Clive F. Newnham, who, along with Lieutenant Colin McCutcheon, gave evidence at the trial. Front row, left to right: Helen (Dizzy) Chong, and ? Vi, who were stenographers at the trial. (Donor A. Pledger)
