Adriatic Sea. May 1917. Austrian warships returning to base after a raid on Adriatic drifters in the Otranto Strait. The drifters were British light fishing vessels, fitted with nets, depth charges, small calibre guns and hydrophones, spaced across the Otranto Strait in an attempt to block enemy submarines from leaving the Adriatic Sea.
