Description

Graves of 1781 Private (Pte) Felix John Brady, 13th Battalion, and 497 Pte William John Burnes, 19th Battalion in the Addolorata Cemetery, Malta. Pte Brady was a deck hand from Milsons Point, New South Wales, prior to enlistment and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Kanowna on 18 June 1915 for Egypt. He joined his battalion at Gallipoli on 16 August 1916 and was wounded in action on 27 August 1915 during the attempt to take Hill 60. Pte Brady was evacuated to Malta and died of these wound in the Floriana Hospital on 13th September 1915. He was aged 22 years. Pte Burnes was a labourer from Junee, New South Wales, prior to enlistment and embarked from Melbourne on 25 June 1915 aboard HMAT Ceramic for Gallipoli. Pte Burnes was admitted to hospital on 12 September 1915, suffering from appendicitis, and was evacuated to Imtarfa Hospital, Malta, where he died from peritonitis on 21st September 1915. He was aged 35 years.
