Grave of 1117 Private (Pte) Alexander Barrie, farmer of Denmark, Western Australia. He enlisted in the 28th Battalion on 25 May 1915 and embarked on HMAT Ascanius on 29 June 1915 for the Gallipoli Peninsula. He was wounded in action on 22 September 1915 and was evacuated to Malta. Pte Barrie died of wounds in Tigne Hospital, Malta, on 10 October 1915, aged 22 years and is buried in the Pieta Military Cemetery. Also buried in this grave is 192 Pte Frederick Holden Foster of the 24th Battalion who died on 9 October 1915 and a British Soldier. (Donor: President of Malta)
