Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of Captain James Gowing Godwin. Collection consists of photocopies of "Weekly Investigation Reports" and "Reports of Investigation Officer" compiled by Investigating Officer Captain James Godwin of the 2 Australian War Crimes Section. The reports relate to investigations by Captain Godwin's unit into war crimes by Japanese forces in New Guinea and Bougainville during the Second World War. A full set of originals is held at the National Archives of Australia at MP742/1 Item 336/1/1965 [Part 4 of 13]. The collection also contains a number of related papers.
