Interview by Jamie Simpson with Arthur Donne, his memories of the First World War and the period afterwards . Topics covered include: Somme winter of 1916; duckboards; fatalism of life at the front; self inflicted wounds; Messines; work around Newcastle NSW after returning from the war; attitude towards British Empire; conscription.
Interview conducted as part of Simpson's Honours Thesis on Newcastle's returned servicemen.
