A cross and wreath mark the grave in the Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery, Plot 3, Row B, Grave 3, of 406251 Sergeant (Sgt) Charles Patrick Lawton, RAAF Observer, of No. 459 Squadron RAAF, who died 10 July 1942 in Egypt. Sgt Lawton's promotion to Pilot Officer had probably not reached his unit before his time of death. He was the son of Charles Francis and Margaret Eva Honor Lawton of Gooseberry Hill, WA. Hadra is a district on the eastern side of Alexandria.
