Collection relating to the Second World War service of SX9362 Captain John 'Jack' Willard Reddin, B Company, 2/27th Battalion, date of composition unknown.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Collection consists of a photocopy of the typescript memoirs of Captain Jack Reddin, B Company, 2/27th Battalion, recalling his part in the Japanese surrender at the former Naval Base at Kendari in the Celebes in December 1945. He describes the surrender ceremony, the organisation of the local people into an interim administration, the forced dumping by the Japanese of their ammunition and the collection of Japanese money and equipment. He also mentions the Company's improvised recreation facilities in an empty hospital building in Macassar, Celebes.
