Studio portrait of 1096 Private (Pte) Reginald Herbert Duke, 1st Battalion. A motor mechanic from Wagga Wagga NSW prior to enlistment, Pte Duke embarked with H Company from Sydney on HMAT Afric on 18 October 1914. On 26 April 1915 he was killed in action at Gallipoli and was buried in the Shrapnel Valley Cemetery. His brother 33020 Driver (Dvr) Arthur Frederick Duke died on board HMAT Shropshire from accidental injuries and is commemorated on the Hollybrook Memorial Southampton.
