Ap Suoi Nghe, South Vietnam. July 1970. Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Alan G. White of Maryborough, Qld, uses a Vietnamese interpreter to give a lesson in the use of the Claymore mine to a popular force platoon, north of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) base at Nui Dat. WO2 White is second in command of Mobile Advisory Training Team 1. The Teams, called MATTS, are being formed around Phuoc Tuy Province with regional force companies and popular force platoons as part of a build up of the Australia Force's training effort in Vietnam.
