Description

Agra, India. 6 February 1945. Before persons of other creeds may enter Indian mosques, they must remove their shoes or cover them with overshoes. But though the Taj Mahal is a tomb and not a mosque the custom still applies. Leading Aircraftman (LAC) J. A. (Snow) Wardlaw, RAAF of Hornsby, NSW (left) and LAC H. K. (Johnno) Johnston, RAAF of Broken Hill, NSW, take their shoes off before entering the shrine.
