Description

Typescript memoir entitled "From soldier to kriegie: the war experiences of Wilton Eady" based on an interview by Betty Ellis, 1996. The memoir gives an account of Lieutenant Colonel Wilton Eady's World War II experiences as part of 2/8 Field Company and his later imprisonment under the Germans. Mention is made of the Battle of Bardia, hospital life after he is wounded, the Greece/Crete campaign after which he was captured in 1941 and his years spent as a prisoner of war under the Germans - mainly at Eichstatt but also at Lubeck, Warburg and Moosburg camps. Following his release from the Germans in 1945 Lt Col Eady went via Brussels to England finally returning to Australia aboard the "Stirling Castle". He was discharged 1945.
