British Pattern 1890 Cutlass and Scabbard : Royal Australian Navy
Description
British Pattern 1890 Cutlass. Basket hilt is black painted with the edge turned over and a slot in the guard near the pommel for a sword knot. The leather grips are secured by five rivets. The blade is straight with a spear point and has a single fuller on each side measuring 8 inches. The ricasso is stamped with a broad arrow on the right and has '01 with two Birmingham inspectors marks on the left and '00 on the flat back edge. It has a black leather 26 inches long scabbard with nickel plated steel chape and locket. The frog stud is tear shaped and an integral part of the locket. A white webbing frog is attached to the scabbard.
