Beersheba, Palestine. 1917. A soldier, possibly with the 5th Light Horse Brigade, sits astride his horse examining a camera while another soldier keeps guard from an elevated platform over a group of Turkish prisoners of war (POWs). The prisoners, who are confined behind a wire fence, are possibly Turkish medical orderlies. The original photograph is captioned `In me cage' indicating that one of the soldiers is R258 Staff Sergeant Robert McMillan Browne, 5th Light Horse Field Ambulance. (Donor I. Smith)
